Join us for our Image Critique Night - considering Composition and Impact and more
In a typical Image competition the jurors evaluate an image against the 12 Elements and give a score or merit result.
In our Image Critique we have a panel of expert photographic jurors who will discuss your image with an emphasis on the elements of Composition and Impact.

So, if you were reluctant to enter Image Competition, here's your chance for a gentler, kinder critique without any pressure.
Our quarterly Image Competition is November 18th, so get feedback on your potential entries images.

Wednesday October 27th 7:00PM chat and announcements, 7:15PM critique begins, ends approximately 9:00PM

Where: Online via Zoom.  Your registration confirmation email will include the Zoom link.

Who: Entries accepted from PPSCV Members (up to 5) and non-members (up to 2) - all are welcome to watch

Cost: There is no charge for members or non-members to enter images or view this event

How: It's easy, just email your images to
No presentation borders necessary, 4000 pixel resolution on the long side recommended, but send any size.

Michael A. Garcia recently retired from being a leading Wedding and Portrait Photographer in the Bay Area. A Professional Photographer since 1976 Michael has been a member of Professional Photographers of Santa Clara Valley (PPSCV) since 1978, and served as President of PPSCV in 1986,1987 and 1992. Michael also sits on the Industry advisory board for Professional Photographers of California and the Photographic advisory board for De Anza College.

Michael is a member of Fuji Film USA Talent Team; Fuji Film USA has chosen Michael’s Photographs to be displayed in their booth at the Professional Photographers of America Convention and the Photo Marketing Association Convention. Fuji also included Michael’s images in their display at Golden School of Professional Photography and Western States Convention of Professional Photographers. Michael was one nine photographers in the Western States that had images chosen by Fuji Film USA to be displayed in the Fuji Film Gallery of Professional Photography. James Frames Intl chose Michael’s Photographs to be displayed in their Catalog and booth at Professional Photographers of America Convention, Western States Convention and Wedding Photographers Convention. McKenna Professional Imaging chose Michael’s Photographs to be displayed in their Catalog and booth at Professional Photographers Convention throughout the United States.

Michael has involved himself in teaching others about studio marketing and utilizing computers in Professional Photography. He has lectured at Professional Photographic Associations throughout United States, the Western States Convention of Professional Photographers, International Marketing and Management Conference and Professional Photographers of America Convention.

Robert Pierce is the owner/founder of Robert Pierce Studios, started in 1976, and the first studio to be certified in the San Francisco North Bay.

Formally educated in the fine arts and commercial arts, he is a PPA recognized Master Photographer and Master Craftsman with consistent participation in continuing education through the years. He has himself been a recipient of numerous merits in Image Competition, and understands how Image Competition can improve our work by listening and acting on carefully delivered criticism.

He has shared his experience, knowledge and wisdom to many photographers and organizations over the years, and is the founder of the Professional Photographers of Wine Country PPA affiliate, in the San Francisco North Bay. 

As a photographer with over 1,500 weddings and a specialization in creative portraiture for high school seniors, he has provided enduring memories to countless clients, developing a unique method of projecting prints on the clients' walls to make sure the image sizes perfectly matched the surroundings.

Robert's most recent and prized recognition was being honored by the professional Photographers of California as "Mentor of the Year"
